A couple years ago they finally changed their alcohol policy and you can now purchase alcohol on-site (I still think you should drink for free while you're gambling). My wife and I always make it a point to spend a night or two here while visiting her family in Minnesota every year. For those of you that did not gamble before penny machines became 'king'.it used to be much better :-) Myself along with many other long-time gamblers are sick of casinos gouging our bankrolls with the low paying penny machines that occupy nearly the entire gaming floor. Nowadays, penny slots are the gambling floor with max bets up to ten dollars or more- the max bets don't increase payout percentages unless there is a progressive jackpot.and even then, betting max only *slightly* increases payouts. These payouts were fine back in the day when lower denomination machines were only few on the casino floor. However, their payouts are awful (somewhere in the neighborhood of 85-88%). Mystic Lake is a beautiful property with nice rooms and amenities. They just do.as do most casinos in Minnesota and Wisconsin. They have succeeded and continue to gouge patrons with their thousands of penny machines that pay out LESS that industry standard. They have spent millions and millions lobbying to keep any competition out of the area. Mystic Lake is always busy and always pulling in the revenue. There are millions of people nearby and they know it. Their machines are tight.and that is because they can be. I need to clarify here.there are regulatory procedures here in place.Mystic Lake pays more than they need to per their gaming compact, but not enough based on the overall casino industry. I have commented before on how this is what one would expect from a non-regulated establishment. Mystic Lake dominates the Twin Cities and has very little competition.

I have fun there, Mystic Lake, however, is almost always a 'mistake'. Well, I'm with the locals on this as this is a much more liberal casino. I have to say Little Six pays much better and is where you will find the 'locals'. They have by far the biggest slot selection and the most to do, other than gamble. Mystic Lake is the biggest casino in the upper Midwest.
